Correct method to tap 12V for electric choke?

I upgraded a worn QuadraJet this year, and opted for an electric choke rather than the hot-air/stove type.

I'm getting conflicting info about where to tap power to the choke. Some say not at the coil, others say coil is ok, as long as it's a 12v Coil (It is).

I'd prefer to wire a dedicated circuit that is only powered when the engine is running ie: brown wire at the alt to a relay switching a dedicated fused 12v line to the choke. (keeping the choke powered off if the ignition is left on).

Is a marine grade relay something that exists? Where would I look? Amperage needed? Feel free to launch me if this is a bad idea - or if anyone knows a better one?

Yes, a workable option and thank you, - but would be pulling more amps through the switch and will power the choke whenever ignition is on (my preference would be choke powered only when running).
 
Use the ignition switch to switch a dedicated relay if you like however the the ignition switch should be able to handle the amps to the choke. Use a 16ga wire with a 10 amp fuse if you like. The reports that chokes will range from 7 amps on start up down to 1 amp when the coil is hot warrants a 10 amp fuse.

Just a generic QJet Rebuild.
Thank you all for the input, and I'm thinking you're right - running a new circuit from the helm and tapping at the switch is probably the way to go. The benefits of an "only heated while running" choke probably don't compare to either the complexity and what might be risk of another ignition potential (that relay) in the engine room. Thanks again.
