I know this question has probably been asked a hundred times but my memory is getting short. Do '89 and prior 300 series boats have balsa cored hulls or are their hulls solid fiberglass ?

"300 Series" covers a lot of territory. Generally cored or not depends upon the factory that built the boat, so if you are looking at a 30 ft DA probably not cored; a larger boat built in Merritt Island may be. Be more specific and maybe we can get closer; however, Sea Ray customer will be able to answer with specifics.

But, I really don't know what difference it makes because all the decks are cored and there are far more problems with cored decks than there are with cored hulls. Further, all the transoms have plywood coring. On the larger boats, the plywood is there to give the factory something to fasten other components to; on I/O models, the plywood is structural.

I checked with Sea Ray yesterday and was told all the 300's were built at the Merritt Island plant and have solid fiberglass hulls. They also told me that all Amberjacks also had solid fiberglass hulls.
