It me again....I bought some test strips to check the coolant. The service guy at Cummins told me I should change the coolant filters to. (original). The filters they sold me are "8 units". If the coolant test good, is it still ok to change the filters with "charged Water Filters"? The mechanic said it will not hurt a thing. the charge is time released and I would just extend the next change...any thoughts?

I believe the "Original" used after a fresh refill of Coolant such as "Fleetguard Complete" is a filter with zero additives.

You adjust the additive concentration over time by changing filters with 2-4-or 8 units of additive.

I'm not drop dead certain on this one, but I do not think over treating the coolant system is a benign act.

You will note that the coolant filter seat housing has cut offs on it so that you can turn off filtration for a time to change filters but alos to shut off filtration to allow too much additive in the system to moderate.
