On my 40 foot dancer with 7.4 380 hp I am in the processof changing exhaust manifolds and risers. My current setup has coolant in the manifoldsand the 6 inch extensions. The other sea rays on my dock that have the same motorhave raw water running through theirs. All these boat are in fresh water now. Iam torn if I should spend the extra money for a different heat exchanger and replumb this boat. Any opinions would be appreciated. Was this a modification done to this boat?

Thanks like always
Paul

Why would you want to change it? Coolant running through the manifolds means you can have corrosion inhibitor protecting them. I think its a superior system and one you'll probably never need to replace.

Is there something wrong with your heat exchanger? Is it plugged up or something? You shouldn't have to replace that, and if the water side is dirty you can chemically clean it. You most certainly want to keep this setup.
