Cool little weight loss calculator that makes sense to me. I thought it might make sense to some of you too.

As bad as I hate to admit it, I got the long face from my doctor last week. Unfortunately its taken me 27 years to realize I'm not 25 anymore.

I have some real health issues and my negligence has exasperated them to the point that now its serious. So I'm looking at finally doing something about it. Several members of this forum have done awesome with similar challenges, I look at their examples with hope.

Good luck Pack, You have your CSR brothers to help you reach your goals. :smt001

Cool calculator. Good luck with your life changes. I have found that one of the great workouts available is for me to do a bike ride discussing politics with "your" buddies. Can that ever get fast paced. :smt043

Losing weight and getting fit is hard to do on your own unless you have incredible discipline. I recommend joining Weight Watchers or something similar to help you get back in shape. There are many great things about these programs but the number one thing is accountability. I lost 45 pounds on a program 3 years ago and I have kept all of the weight off. It requires a lifestyle change in addition to just a diet change.

Good luck!

First - You can do anything You want to do as long as You want to do it.
Second - If you can - walk at least a mile a day to start. Once you have done that then try something a little more disciplined. Ex. 41/2 half years ago my son bought me P90X. I started using it right away. Now I wasn't in bad shape but needed to loose some weight and pack on some muscle. Reason - I was getting remarried and we were headed to Antigua for two weeks. I only had 60 days before we left but in 60 days I was pleasantly surprised. So was my new wife. About 12 years ago I bought the Total Gym - I started working on that right after I got it. About three weeks later I went to visit my sons. My youngest (25yrs old then) after giving me a hug said, wow POP have you been working out.
Not quite a month ago I had hip replacement surgery on my left leg. This past weekend I started working out on the Total Gym again. And yes, I just started walking on both legs with the use of a cane. I also just turned 60 in May.
My point - You can do anything You want to do as long as You want to do it.
Good luck keep us posted.

Good luck with your venture. One encouraging thing, I think long term change gets easier with time. When you get used to eating better, some of the old problem foods don't seem so appealing. If you have some housemates with less then ideal habits, see if they'll join you and help avoid having problem items in your home. My mom is a long time diabetic, and we didn't have much crap in the house. I left home at 6'1" and 172 lbs., and several years later was pushing 220. Cleaned things up and can usually maintain 185-190 now.
