Cool Fuel Mod Re-Work

Has anyone attempted to refurb/ sand-blast their CFM, to avoid purchasing a new cover and/or module? I need 2 new covers, part #8M0086387, and they are are on Merc national backorder, with an ETA to my yard, after 9/1, meaning no Labor day boating if I can't find the parts or another solution.

I will follow your post and would appreciate if you document the refurb process. I need to do the same thing this winter.

Yes, bead blasted the covers with very good results. Took it 1 step further and sealed the fuel and water section with POR fuel tank sealer after adding threaded plastic pipefittings

Hi Ziekman, can you point me to the thread on the problem? I remember reading something about paint peeling on the cool fuel modules. We share the same boat, so maybe I can get proactive if you are seeing issues.

Don't delay, pull your regulators to inspect. This is what we found:
