So Hurley wants to sell me a custom made rib insert to add to my traditional davit mount. $100 plus shipping. anyone have one of these and can share pics? Can these be self fabricated? Hard part is done...mounts are on the boat.
    Thanks,
    Ed

I have the insert and it works great. Unfortunately I don’t have any photos to share and I’m a couple of hours away from the boat right now, but here are a couple of photos with the rib on it. 676BCF2A-3A8F-4DEA-8488-98DF16CCD8CD.jpeg C242FD6C-EED6-408E-A270-4F653B8FFBBB.jpeg C242FD6C-EED6-408E-A270-4F653B8FFBBB.jpeg

NP....if you remember, please take a few pics of the insert? this is for next season anyway. When I spoke to Hurley, they tried to convince me to put the bow of the dink by the door....I reversed mine as I see you did too.
    thanks,
    Ed

Do you guys happen to know the depth of your swim platforms, compared to your dinghy beam? I destroyed my Olsson davit during high seas, bent it all to pieces, so I'm looking for other options and really like the idea of the dinghy sitting flat on the platform. I just never felt comfortable having my dinghy suspended from the rickety feeling tube, and rocking back and forth under anything over 1 foot seas.

Unfortunately, my platform is only 24.5" deep, and my dinghy is about 67" wide, so not sure if the Hurley will work or not. I'm sending them my specs to see if they would be able to calculate it, but this thread was timely so thought I'd ask here.

Also, I do have a RIB, what's the insert that they are saying you need for? Is that an upgrade to make it more like the H2O where it's more of a positive fit against the dinghy hull?

I've got the same type of platform and used square aluminum tubing fab'd up with two trailer type "receivers" placed under the swim deck (out of sight and toe stubbing range) and two smaller diameter arms made from aluminum tubing that extend past the swim deck. At the end of the arms are two plastic cradles that pivot to the water for loading/unloading of the dinghy. The arms use a single locking pin under the edge of the swim deck but can be detached easily. I usually leave the dinghy on the davits all year long including winter storage. It hasn't failed me yet!

Here is a pic. Just arrived to the marina and it’s dark, but you can see the inserts. They work great.

I can almost see if in your profile pic, do you have any additional pics or details on it?
