Convert from Mineral Engine Oils to Synthetic

I have always used regualr oils and as recommended by the engine manufactruers. Most recently, I am interested to convert from regualr oil to Synthetic. No questions about it, I am sold on the use of synthetic for better performance, lubrication and less breakdown of particles.
My question is to those owners or mechanics about what is the best procedure to change the oil and if purging the existing engine in a specific manner is :huh:necessary. I welcome any comments.

I have changed mine to the Mercury synthetic blend.
