I have a 2007 44DB now and am considering moving up to a 52. I would appreciate any input from owners of either or both boats. Any issues to watch for on the 52?
Thanks in advance,
JetLag

I had a SR 410 and then moved up to a 520 and found it to be a big difference. The 52 handles and rides much better than I thought it would. I have always been told about the 52 and how she performs, now I believe it.

He said "52 DB"... not "52 DA"... No one in their right freekin' mind would go from a bridge boat to a sundancer. That would be like going from a Mercedes Benz to a Hyundai.

Or from a three-story to a basement rancher...

Overall, I love the boat. Plenty of power with the Cummins QSM11's with a cruising speed of around 27 knts. If there weren't issues, then it wouldn't be a boat. All stupid minor stuff..... Check to see if the stainless steel top rail on the port and starboard winshield on the bridge is lifting or if you can pull up on it. In rough seas, mine separated from the glass. the span is just to long. I templated an angled brace, had it fabricated from stainless steel and sent it out to be polished. looks factory installed and solved the problem. Sub Zero refrig. and freezer will open up when cruising if it doesn't have a locking latch. I believe later models have them. I installed a latch on each. Check cabinets to see if all of the locks actually lock the door in place. Several of mine were not lined up and locked or not, they would open when cruising... The Cummins QSM11's are great motors but most guys who own them know the problem with the heat exchanger support bracket developing a crack. There are various solutions for this from replacing the existing bracket or having a custom bracket fabricated which eliminates the removal of the heat exchanger which is a lot more work. I made a template and had a bracket fabricated. Good luck....

Thanks so much. I'm looking at an '07 and an '08. The '08 has the blue hull. Yours is beautiful. How is the pewter hull working out?

Hey that DA is gorgeous! If it were up to me I'd have a Sundancer in a second but my wife does not like going down into the saloon and my long coat chihuahua just cant do the steps. Thanks for the endorsement.

Jet.....Why are you moving up? Be interested in hearing your thought process on moving out of the beautiful 44!

Wanna race?

I don't want to highjack the thread, but when I saw this:
Or a Dodge Caravan to a Porsche?
coming from a GAS 420DA, my eyes popped wide open. To make it even worse, JetLag has 44DB with Cummins QSC500s, this is boat will say bah buy to his 420DA before he touches the trottles. I wonder in what state of mind one has to be to call 420/44DB a "Dodge Caravan"?:smt101

Well you gotta admit, the "Hyundai" comment was a little harsh also!

You got to be around long enough to understand Gary's humor. There seamed to be ongoing "battle" between Bridge boats vs. DAs just like between GAS vs. DIESELs. I like them all. In all fairness, yeah "Hyundai" comment was a little harsh, but this is why Gary has the label on his avatar "Head Pot Stirrer".

Let's get back to the interesting topic on finding all good replies regarding 52DB before this thread goes south.
