Help... I just purchased a 2003 Sea Ray 340 Sundancer. I have an alarm that goes off after I start the boat. There are times it does not go off until 15 minutes into my ride and other times it will happen immediately after start up. The only way to turn off the alarm is t shut down the boat and turn the keys off. All my gauges read OK. What can be triggering the alarm?

Thanks in Advance

check your outdrive gear lube levels..if its low that will cause the alarm to activate..its mounted on the side of the engine u should be able to see it clearly..

You need to get a Mercruiser tech to pull the alarm code from the engine. There is a lot of stuff that can make the alarm come on. You most likelly will not figure it out on your own with out reading the code.
If you have SmartCraft guagues I think they have a fault readout in the display also.

As others mentioned, check the gear lube.

I had a constant beeping and couldn't figure out what it was two years ago. Then I realized, because my cuddy was open, the Co2 alarm was going off.

Get the codes checked. Since you said the gauges read good, my guess is a faulty sensor -- temp, psi, etc. Have you physically checked the engine oil and felt the top of your riser elbows when this happens. I'm not sure if your model year has a water pressure sensor, but if so that is another possible cause (restriction in intake or worn impeller). When is the last time the impeller was changed?

Check low level on depth finder. My 290 use to have alarm go off every so often and it was smartcaft depth finder.

It shows 5 ft on the low end. Do you recommend I simply reset? Or did yours randomly change? Thanks in advance...

Impellers were just changed a couple of weeks ago as I had them changed when I purchased the boat. I had a service guy check it out but he does not have the computer to check the codes. Need to find someone else.

Ditto.

You probably have the same gauges as me with the SC 1000.
Longshot...but...happened to me on my first run last weekend. My GPS thought I was following a route and kept beeping (at the helm with alarm type sound) when waypoints were crossed. I'm panicking looking for depth, overheat, IAC, carbon monoxide etc. Finally...I "cancelled route". Other longshot idea is that sometimes at start my fuel guages take a minute or so and I get a "low fuel" but certainly not 15 minutes. Do you have a little alarm "bell" showing on the gauges? If so, might be depth. I shut mine off.

Its probably a sensor as others have noted.

one more thing...is there anything showing on the smartcraft (square display?)....assuming you have the SC 1000. If I trigger an alarm from the engine, such as IAC or a sensor- mine will say "port engine alarm diagnostic". If not there, its likely not a sensor but a simpler item as noted above. (I think)

Thanks a bunch.. It was the depth finder. I set it at zero on the low end. The problem is if I set it higher it goes off.
