Can anyone recommend a marina on the Connecticut River? Planning a trip the end of August.

Essex Island Marina. Awesome place. It's about 20-30 mins up river from the LI Sound (lots of no wake zones). Great pool, restaurant on site, plenty for the kids to do, indoor air conditioned game room/card room. and free ferry across to town where there's plenty of shopping and great restaurants. Highly recommended. Call ahead for reservations because they're always busy. Also, if you like it quieter, request a slip around back. The slips on the river side are a bit noisier and you get some bouncing from the river traffic.

If you stay in Essex, take a trip just north of Essex called Hamburg Cove. Plenty of Moorings to grab and it is a great spot to swim and hang out in fresh water. The inlet to the cove is on your starboard side heading north up the river, it is well marked.

Thanks for the info guys. Called Essex and got all the info on rates. Now I have to get the crew together and plan this out.

If you decide to go north on the river you will have Gillette Castle on your starboard side and then the Goodspeed Opera House at the swing bridge. Good little place to eat just north of the Opera House called the Blue Oar. You will see it to you on the port side. Excellent clam chowder and lobster rolls. It is BYOB.
