Any favorite/recommended restaurants that are accessible by boat on the Connecticut coast? I'm always looking for a new place to try out.

Sunset grill at Norwalk Cove Marina, transient slip with cove.
The Restuarant on the five mile river in Rowayton, call only 1 slip
Historic Washington street in south Norwalk , vets park transient slip , too many restuarants to mention
Valentinos same slip in sono best pizza in the world

Not to hijack....but....didn't someone post restaurants available by boat in South West Florida (Charlotte Harbor and South) ? I can't seem to find it.
Sorry for stepping on your original post. My bad...hope I don't get called into the principals office!

Captains Cove in Black Rock is a relatively short trip. More of a burger place / fried shrimp / bar than a restaurant, though. Food was good last time we went.

Stratford - Knapps Landing is our favorite, further up the Housatonic is Outriggers at Brewers that's nice too. Past that is Lumi. Then were about done for that area.

Milford harbor there are many good ones Archie Moores, Citrus, Colony Grill, 7Seas, SBC.

Boom at Brewers Pilots Point in Westbrook CT is nice. Our favorite just opened last month. Red 36 at Seaside Marina in Mystic CT. Very open feel, good food, and looks over the Mystic River. Nice new docks there as well.

Hey John,

On the Housatonic in Stratford, just before the 95 bridge Joey C's boathouse just opened up and they have transient slips too. I figured I'd give the thread a bump :)

Strong Current there during any tide other than slack, with limited maneuverability..

Marley's cafe at Essex Island Marina is a favorite of ours for breakfast and lunch. Dinner is BYOB

We loved that place, great food and beautiful location.

A quick comment about Norwalk, if you pull in to the town dock (if I recall, they charge $1 p/f for 8hrs slot), cross the bridge and you're entering SONO, which has lots of great restaurants for any taste.

In Stamford, a new restaurant opened a year or two ago, right at Stamford Landing Marina. I forgot the name, Cabana something... Few friends went there by boat and had great experience.

Back Porch in Old Saybrook at Between the Bridges marina if you like a bit more of a lively crowd.

But if you do, bring your wallet. My boat is docked right across from Boom (you could even toss me a bread roll) and I've neer been there. Anyway, if you do go, stop by and say hello. I'll be the only 400 Sedan Bridge you see while sitting at Boom.

I agree on "Aqua" in Clinton, "Back Porch" in Essex, and I dont' think it was mentioned yet, but for a nice little ride up the CT river you can get to the "Blue Oar" in Haddam. That place is awesome. BYOB, and most people bring table cloths, picnic baskets, etc. It was listed in one of the 101 places to see before you die books.

My list is growing!!!! Thanks John!!

If you get up into Mystic, CT, there are a couple of interesting options that are along the river, or a short walk from the waterfront:
S&P Oyster
Latitude 41
Captain Daniel Packer Inn

After dinner, get an ice cream at the Mystic Drawbridge ice cream shop, yummm. (Or just start there!)

I've been at Pirate's Point (Pilot's Point) for 7 years and the closest we got to going into Boom was to sit on the outside deck for some drinks. They never seem to have room for the locals, but when my uncle visited from Albuquerque, he got right in. Your mileage may vary.

Do most of these restaurants have dock space? I'm comprising this list also from this thread and would love to pull up for dinner as we never had that experience on the south shore of Long Island not after the 320 DA anyway.

Hey Joe, if your looking for the best "availability" I would look to Milford Harbor, they have 40-50 transient slips and they have 6 restaurants & down town green very close within walking distance. All 6 of the restaurants are TOP notch food and service and affordable for sure. The marina is very nice and well protected. There is no current to deal with at all http://www.ci.milford.ct.us/harbor-management-commission-marina/pages/milford-lisman-landing-marina

On the Housatonic River in Milford there is in order headed inland from the sound :

Knapp's has 3 end to end on a single dock and the current is very fast http://www.knappslanding.com/index.html
Outriggers at Brewers http://www.byy.com/marinas/brewer-marinas-stratford-ct/ plenty of slips
River View Bistro has no slips but you can dink up to their dock, swift current http://www.riverviewstratford.com/
Joey C's boat house has only 4-6 slips with a decent current http://www.joeycsboathouse.com/

And that's about it for Milford and my knowledge base

I hope that helps a little bit.
