Confusion About Sea Ray Specifications

Greetings,

I am looking at a 1993 Sea Ray 200 Overnighter, which is very clean. I will be test driving the boat on Sunday.

My question is this: I'm trying to figure out the horsepower of the engine, which is a 4.3 Liter V6 CID 262. I can't tell if it is the LX version or not. In any case, Sea Ray's archived brochures show the optional engine as follows:

"4.3L Mercruiser Stern Drive
(175/155hp - 116kW) "

Are they referring to two different engines with the "175/155hp", or is one side of the "/" the HP rating at the crankshart and the other side the rating at the propeller?

Your help would be appreciated.

Best regards,

Twig

You have it. Crankshaft HP/Propshaft HP. A few years earlier, it was crankshaft. A few years later it was propshaft. They didn't want to be cheated by using propshaft when someone else might still be using crankshaft.

And a big thanks from me as well.

I have a 1992 Sea Ray 180 BR with the same engine and I noticed that the broshur that I found for my boat said the same thing.

At that age was the distinction not that the LX has a 4 barrel carb and the L a two?
The broshur for the 4.3 LX in my 91 200 OV claims 205hp but that will be "crank rated"
