I have an 08 270 SLX ,
Merc 496 (400HRS) Bravo 3 Outdrive DTS (digital throttle system)
During the end of season last 2 short trips i noticed that there was a delay when shifting into foward gear. After about a minute it would kick into foward gear. No problem shifting in reverse. This would happen when pulling out of my slip so I didn’t rev it up. I bring my boat to a reputable Merc Marine shop and they winterize and remove the out drive. Then they service out drive through the winter and reinstall the outdrive in the spring just prior to launching the boat. My question is has anyone experienced the same issue and was the cone clutch the issue? Also i figure its cheaper to replace it while outdrive is off. Also anything else that should be changed at that time in connection with the cone clutch ? The Outdrive gets services every year.

I'm having the same issue with our '06 Crownline. Exact same symptoms. Outdrive is off and in the garage. Was planning on replacing it myself but probably having surgery soon so may have to pay a shop to do it

correct oil used and condition of the oil removed is worth checking
That was my issue. I always use merc/quicksilver but the shop I went to only had Sierra so I asked them which oil I needed. Turns out it was the wrong oil. Lesson learned
