In the recent issue of MotorBoating that came to the house, there's an article on the Concept 4400. Here's a link to a video http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid1243727402?bclid=1266417064&bctid=5079555001

Company site is www.conceptboats.com

This looks like a fantastic boat, and with the 3 300 hp outboards it has incredible fuel economy -- at least it seems so to me.

I've not come across Concept boats in Iowa. Are they good boats? I'd never get one for our lake (I'd be turning the thing around all the time!), but for coastal use, and for folks who don't want much cabin space, it looks like a great compromise between space, speed and fuel economy. Plus it would seem that the outboard idea compares favorably to big V8s and their tight engine compartments.

Are there comparable boats out there, or is this something somewhat unique?

That boat seems pretty nice for an outboard boat.

My neighbors always yelling from his dock when he sees me upside down in my engine compartment "Should have bought an outboard!" haha

That does look pretty nice.

What is it about outboards vs inboard or i/o that gives the outboards better fuel economy.

That's a really nice looking boat. Check out the gallery on their site - I wish the wiring on mine looked liked that!

I copied the fuel usage vs. speed data from the author of the article, not the manufacturer. Looks very impressive to me.

I'm not familiar with go-fast boats, especially those powered by multiple outboards. Are these GPH/speed figures pretty normal for these types of boats?

Is that GPH number for all 3 engines? WOT gph on my single 496 is something like 32 gph!!! Maybe I should switch to outboards.:wow:

Are u sure its for all three engines combined or per engine.

I've written the magazine an email requesting clarification on whether it's 1 engine or 3. Other pertinent data is: 15-knot wind, 3-4 foot seas, 400 gallons fuel, 70 gallons water, two people on board. Off Miami's Key Biscayne.

It it more than likely that it is per engine.

What size engine?
