We often thrash about here at the old CSR marina regarding new vs used, gas vs. diesel, subharmonic distortion regression analysis, etc. etc. etc.

Guys who want new boats and will never consider buying used may stop reading at this point.

For those on the new/used fence, here is an interesting link:

04 420DA, Cummins power, appears to be nicely optioned, going in price is 299K. Who knows what this one might sell for. That is half the fun. This is sort of where I found my boat in 2006; Truly Blessed II had 107 hours on the Cummins. Boat was badly oxidized and in need of TLC, but after some sweat equity she runs and looks great, for about half the cost of a new one.

I believe it is a buyer's market, and for those willing to do their homework, and perhaps turn a wrench and clean gelcoat, there are some gems out there.

My .02.

I agree, a cash buyer can have a field day. A friend of mine just purchased a 05 40 MY for a great price. Below the price of the 420 DA you have on your link!!!

never purchase a wife. Much better to lease or rent one. Wives are a depreciating asset good for about 5-7 years. After that you are looking to upgrade to a newer model. The problem is, it's almost impossible to sell or trade in the old model. So now you are stuck with expense of two.

Looks great but it makes you wonder about the guys selling boats. If you were taking the pictures to list on a web site wouldn't you get rid of the dehumidifyer sitting on the galley counter draining into the sink? Makes me feel good about my photography skills if I ever decide to go into the brokerage business. l_galley88.jpg

Skip, I noticed that boat about two weeks ago and also think it looks good. BTW, thanks again for all the info you sent me on the 420. For some reason I can’t quite understand, there is an abundance of 420’s for sale in Florida as compared to other areas. Not that this is a bad thing because competition in the area may be one reason this boat is listed lower than most others.
Let’s see, make a road trip to Florida in March, cut a great deal on a boat and drive it back up to our area on the ICW – sounds like a plan to me.
