Hampton Roads area boaters I’d like to give you a warning about Hampton Rubber and Hose. My slip neighbor had to replace his engine and transmission. He took advantage of the engine being out of his way to replace his remote oil filter hoses. He used Jasper for the motor. After install the replacement hoses were put into place. After less than ten hours of the break in one one these hoses blew out at the fitting. Hampton Rubber never crimped the fitting to the hose. Engine blew, oil everywhere. Hampton Rubber would not stand by the work and refused to offer any help with another engine or even the labor costs. They wouldn’t even help with the hoses. They do not stand by the work they do!

Jasper stepped in and up, they sold him another engine for a VERY low price and Hampton Marine Services did the pull and install at no cost.

Unfortunately you always need to double check a service providers work.

Question - did your slip neighbor continue running the boat after the oil pressure alarm went off? I'd hope I could kill my engine fast enough to avoid seizing it if the alarm went off??

The alarm never went off due to a broken wire no one saw. He shut down as soon as he lost oil pressure.
