Comfortable Passenger Count on '98 450 DA?

Hi all,

Awesome forums here, about time I joined.

Rounding up a crew and am trying to figure out if 15 people will be just a bit too much on the 450DA?

We'll do a mix of cruising and anchoring.

Any experiences with full passenger loads on the 450 (or 440/460 for that matter) would be helpful.

FWIW, most people will know each other.

Depends on how well everyone knows each other! Seriously though, although the boat can handle it, that is a lot of people for anylonger than two or three hours max IMO. Make sure to explain to everyone how the vacuflush works.

Haha, I *always* cover the VacuFlush, and make the ladies especially aware that it doesn't accept everything.

It's likely going to be an Air Show event, so a good portion of the time we will be anchored where the bow will offer some extra seating as well.

I feel that's gonna be gettin cozy and stress the capacities of the plumbing. Especially if you plan on spending the whole time on the hook. If you were going to a port with facilities such as a restaurant then no problem. No matter how good of friends you are people start to get on each others nerves after a while and especially if your on different drinking regimens. Of course more alcohol helps but I cannot condone that to a captain.
Lighten the load a little if not already committed and have a good time!!

I do the air show every spring by us and we have 10 people on our 380 DA. We are out for a good 8 hours and it has worked out well. Monitoring the use of the head is the biggest issue and if it rains things could get a lot tighter.

One couple will be out of town, so I think we're shaping up to be in the 10-13 range...which should be just fine.

I am hoping to pick the group up at a pump-out dock, so when we head out on our journey, I'll do one good clean out so we have a full 60 gallons available to us...

We have traveled quite a bit with 6-8 on board and thats borderline with 8. It does get a little crowded but if it's just a few hours and everyone gets along it should be a lot of fun. Happy Boating!

I have had 19 people on a 460 Sundancer without issues. It was only to anchor for the Chicago Air and Water Show but it was still a good time. Go check out the playpen for a saturday afternoon and you will see how many people can fit on 340-410s in a heartbeat!

No doubt 19 was a little packed, but if everybody knew each other and was there for the same reason, there's no way it could not be fun!

My trip will be broken up with two anchor spots, which as mentioned earlier allows people to relax on the bow (which is arguably the best spot in the house!), so that should make things just fine.

My standard answer to that question is....

The boat is perfect for 6 for cocktails, 4 for dinner, and sleeps 2.

Most people get the point, a few need an extra explanation but they're not the kind you'd want on board anyways. :smt021

We took 14 people to the island for a day on my 340. It was just fine, but I prefer two.
