Last year the government forced me to buy 3 digital converter boxes for my 3 old non digital TVs,(Had a digital on the boat). Then last week with Obama and his progressives on TV campaigning, all three converter boxes malfunctioned. The on/off button and volume controls on each of the remotes stop working, yet the channel changer buttons work.
I now find Obama and his progressives on every channel and I can't turn the TV off or even lower the volume. Note: WallyMart has stopped selling the converter boxes.:smt013
All three converter boxes stopped working on election week?
Coincidence,I think not.

I have to wonder what ANY government had to do with the conversion; it was the carrier that made the decision. Sounds like they were cheap converter boxes.

Putting politics aside, and speaking as a member of the broadcast media during the transition, the DTV change had nothing to do with the Obama administration. It was a change put in motion nearly a decade ago. In fact, it was supposed to take place earlier, but was pushed back a few times to give people more time to prepare.

There were many reasons for the change, but one of the biggest reasons was bringing television signals from analog to digital. All HD is digital anyways, so it was going to happen regardless.

One of the reasons the government (Bush's FCC) wanted the transition was because by broadcasters abandoning their *analog* signals, the government was reclaiming them. The government then auctioned those channels to the highest bidder. Obtaining an FCC license is both difficult and expensive for broadcast television channels, hence why once you have one it makes your TV station more valuable.

In terms of the DTV boxes, that sucks that they stopped working. Of course, from the side of TV manufacturers, I'm sure they just want you to buy new digital TV's! Hah.

At least by 2014 when your current tvs wont work anymore either and a converter wont fix the 1100 $ toshiba i have then.
