The Admiral agrees we should add a TV to the cockpit, Any suggestions on where to mount and a mounting bracket. Thanks Bob

Bob,
The TV on the 44 is behind the captains seat. Not a great location. Another buddy installed one above the sink in the cockpit. I think that might be a better location.

I also think this is not the best location..

L&G,

I am trying to mount a TV on th rear deck area of my 420AC and wonder were the TV & mounting system shown in the pictures came from. Is it weather proof or just have some type of cover you pull over it?

John

Pete,
Only that first one is mine.... SWEAR.....
John . the TV is removeable. If u look at PETE's last posted pic that pole pulls out and the cable and power have quick disconnects. I put the TV in place on friday and remove it sunday. It gets alittle schmutz when in some seas... but in two years it hasnt failed.

Buddy has it on the post side arch above the sink . His is permanent .

The mounting bracket shown is right from Sea Ray, I called and priced it last year, $280.

I made my own, similar to that one, it turned out very nice. The part the post goes into and mounts to the boat, I used the Magma grill mount, it's almost exactly the same. I installed two of these, one behind the helm seat and one by the bar sink. I also ran the the wiring to both locations, this way I can put the TV in either location depending on the number of people on board or the weather (canvas up or down).

I also had my canvas guy make a nice matching weather proof cover for the TV, it's an awesome set up!

Hope this give you some ideas, good luck

I don't have any pictures or I would post them.

Well thanx to petes pic I found the stupid power inverter for the TV in the cockpit. Does anyone know why in hell they installed 110volt inverters on all the 12 volt TV's.... So i have to run the genset to power the TV's .... RETARDED!!!!!!!

Rob

Rob,

Thanks for all the info and I have already located the grill mounting hardware. We'll post pics when I get it done. Presently planning on heading North from Ft Lauderdale to the York river North of Norflok VA the end of this month so it will be a while before I get to mount the TV.

Again many thanks,:smt038

Thanks all , when I decide how to mount I will post some pics. Thanks Bob

I'm guessing that they are boat builders and not electronics specialists. They need to hang out here to figure out what/how to build.

I'm guessing that they did that to match up with the 110v DVD players so that there wouldn't be confusion about why one works when the other doesn't.

Funny you bring this up because I was just contemplating how to get at least one of the TV's to work on 12v - for watching while on the hook.

Any ideas on the best way to do this?

We installed the same set up that Peter has next to the sink. Purchased the post and base from our local SeaRay dealer. We installed an automotive DVD player and ran it through the sound system using the AUX mode on the Clarion CD-FM-AM. It is the best place to watch a movie. We purchased a 20" Toshiba flat screen, but it is not viewable in bright sun shine. Has any one found a TV that is sunshine viewable?

It may have to do with voltage regulation. Perhaps they need 12v without the fluctuations that occur (like battery charging at 13.5 volts). Out of the 4 flat screens on the boat, I left three of them with their AC adapters. There's a small one in the guest SR that I cut the ac adapter wire (after determining polarity) and wired it into the 12 v system, and so far it works fine. For me, the 120v actually works better because there's 120v available more easily throughout the boat.
Maybe someone here with electronics knowledge can tell us if it's safe to wire these directly into the boat's 12v system.
