The elbow connector under my cockpit sink broke in half leaving the other half inside the hose. I have tried for half an hour trying to remove the broken piece inside the house which I was unsuccessful due to the silicone holding the broken piece.

What can I do to remove the broken piece without cutting a piece of the hose off? Would it be easier to use a brass or bronze elbow instead of the plastic to prevent it from being broken off again?

I will see if I can snap a few pics if you guys need to see what I'm talking about.

A heat gun might help soften things up a bit. Then a pair of big needle-nose pliers might help to break up and remove the pieces. But then you'd have some risk that the pieces and leftover sealant not offering a clean fit for a new connection. Won't know until you rip the old one out. This isn't a situation where you're dealing with water pressure so it'd probably be ok. You may be faced with putting in some new hose. Use an inline fitting with a section of new hose. How did the old one get broken?
