Just sharing some photos of the work I just had done on the seating in the cockpit in case anyone else was looking for some ideas. The fabric is Sunbrella. I did'nt want to do the usual white vinyl and think this is a real nice alternative. Now if the weather would just cooperate, I can take the shrink rap off.......

Thanks Todd, however, I didn't personally do it... I can only take credit for selecting the materials and layout. I am definately happy with the workmanship this guy did....He knows his craft...

Looks very nice. I like they way he did it and I'm sure it will add a lot to the personalization of your boat.

Well done.

that does look real nice....i like darker colors for seats and carpet personally.....i wonder if the dark color will make the seats hot during the summer months.....

Looks Great! Nice choice of color and texture. Let us know how the Sunbrella performs outside. I used it for our interior, it's nice fabric.

Hopefully it doesn't get to hot.......But will report back if it does. I plan on having covers made to protect them as I don't always use the cockpit cover. I think the biggest culprit will be the morning dew.

So I see you did the searay logo too! Looks sharp. I have a 300 DA that I am looking to have reupholstered. I too would like to have the searay logo stitched in. Did your installer contact SeaRay to get some sort of template?

You can buy pieces of vinyl from Flounder Pounder Marine that have the Sea Ray logo stitching already done.

No, he has some one who does it and they were able to match it from the original logo on the backrest. With computers today, I think it's quite easy to do......

Gary (Four Sons) did Sunbrella fabric on his seats as well. Looks great on both boats and I have been tempted to try this. The problem is that I'm not too sure how it will look on a Sundancer. One of the PNW guys sent me a shot of his 460DA with Sunbrella fabric in his cockpit. I will most likely chicken out and do vinyl again. One way or another, my cockpit fabric will be replaced this year.

Hey Bob,
Congradulations on your new boat.... You will love her..... In regards to the back seat, you first have to decide if you want to match the original material or change it. If you are matching, then you just need to find a local upholstery shop. I decided to change it and ordered the Sunbrella material from www.outdoorfabrics.com I removed the the seat and backrest and brought it to the upholstery shop. He told me how much material to order. Once I brought the material to him, he had someone who was able to match the searay logo.
To remove the backrest yourself, you just need to use a very flat pry bar being very careful. I would put a rag between the fiberglass and the bar. Start at one end and work your way across. The backrest is just held on by the plastic "Christmas tree" type fasteners.

Good luck and enjoy your new toy.......

I know this thread has been dead for awhile but I was curious as to how the Sunbrella held up this season. I need new cockpit seat covering this off season and am curious about the Sunbrella.

Humph... You mentioned you had photos of a 460DA with Sunbrella cockpit seating. Can you share a few?

Thanks!

Bryan,
The Sunbrella fabric is holding up very well. Only down side is it will show water stain marks if it gets really wet. A damp sponge seems to do the trick to get rid of the stains. If I'm washing the boat, I will cover it. Overall, very happy with Sunbrella and looks much better than the original white vinyl.

I can when I get to work. That's when my files are on that boat.
