I purchased my first Sea Ray this past fall. The boat came with a mooring cover, bow cover, convertable top and a bimini top. I am interested in a cockpit cover or camper enclosure for the convertable top. I need to be able to enclose the cockpit for an occasional over night mooring. Great Lakes tops claims not to have a pattern for this boat. Has anyone else been able to find a cover for this boat or do I need to go to a custom canvas shop to have it made?

Thanks
Joe

joe,
there has to be a canvas guy down there at LC that could get the job done. probably cheaper than Great Lakes as well. Call Lake Cumberland Sea Ray to see who they use for repair jobs.

Are you saying you're interested in both, or just one or the other?

Westland might have been the guys that made your canvas. They were the other major supplier to Sea Ray.

A camper enclosure for the convertible (or bimini) top MUST be custom made.

A cockpit cover SHOULD be custom made. Even if you do happen to get the cover from a company, it will be sent "blank" - no snaps. You'll still have to install those.

If you're interested, there are TONS of threads about covers that you can search for if you're still looking for more info.

Gioia made carpets for for my 250 DA and were nice to deal with...

Joe,

Try a search on Westland and you get your answers. Long story short, our 230s were made at SR's Phoenix plant (Hull # starts with SERA) which was closed on '01 or early '02. Westland supplied the canvas for this plant. As a follow up, I called Westland and asked what happened to all of the patterns. Well supposedly, the patterns were to be digitized and sent to TN. Unfortunatley due to file corruption or some other problem, this never happened.

I bought the full factory enclosure for my boat in 2001 or 2002. It consists of three connectors for the windshield, two for the winshield wings, and a sloping aft Sunbrella curtain. The factory windshield connectors are the "channel style inserts".

SO the bottom line is that you will have to have a custom encosure made locally unless you can find it online at fpmarine.com or another similar site.

I had mine made locally for my 230OV. I was very nice. I'm not sure if he made a template or not but you can call Dave at King's Marine canvas and see. 206-283-9346. It was around $600.
