Just got a new (to us) dingy that when it is mouted on the boat covers the name and port. Therefore the CG says we need to have our name put on the bottom of the dingy. I'm worried that vinal lettering will peal off in the salt water. What do you guys use?

I don't cover the transom with my dinghy. Seriously, as a long time inflatable owner, the vinyl stick on letter has yet to be made that will stay on. They all fall off. An ugly, but effective, solution is to get a stencil kit made for inflatables and mooring balls. The paint is great, it stays on forever. The only down side is you will have to find someone to free hand the boat's name. The letter size remains the same and is larger than the registration number sized stencils.

If your boat name and hailing port decals were made by a sign company, they can reduce the size of the decals and use them to make a stencil. You can then use that stencil to spray paint the name and port on the bottom of the dinghy.

Just tell the sign company what size you want the stencils to be and they can easily make them.
