Sorry if this has been addressed before.
i went to my boat tonight after being away for almost 2 weeks and 2 of my 3 co2 detectors were going off. There was nothing on other than the fridge and the boat was closed up tight. I could see one being a fluke but 2?
(aft cabin and galley were going)
Thanks.

Low battery power makes them go off. The label on the detectors describe what different blink patterns mean.

Btw, they are carbon monoxide detectors (CO, not CO2)

It could very well be low battery, which is a good precautionary alarm. But, I also remember hearing the detectors should be replaced at the end of their useful life - 5 years?? In addition to the factory unit, I keep a home detector plugged into an outlet in the galley. It was $50, and has a 9-volt back-up battery, which works when we're on the hook, and I want to turn off the house battery.

I am assuming, that 2 detectors were going off because they echo eachother. Meaning, the alarms in my house, if one is triggered, the others activate throughout the entire house until everyone on the street knows I burnt something in the kitchen. Its useful in an emer. but a PITA when a battery dies... because then they all start chirping.

Could also be an overcharged battery that is low on water. Hydrogen gas sets off a CO detector and overcharging a good battery with the plates uncovered and charging a dead battery either one will cause them to gas off hydrogen

Thanks everyone. It was the batteries. But now I need to figure out why 2 week old batteries are dead. Obviously a draw somewhere.

In my case, it wasn't that the batteries were low, the house batteries were fine. The problem was corrosion / bad power connections to the house current distribution panel. See Low Cabin DC Voltage thread.
