So I am sitting at anchor. Engines and genny off, cabin open. Light breeze. The midships cabin co detector goes off. Got to be a false alarm. Nothing around to generate co. I disconnect it, reconnect, about and hour later it goes off again.
I assume that it is giving me false alarms. It looks like the circuit board is easily replaceable. Is there something else I should consider that could be causing it to go off, or just replace it? Thanks!

I've had them go off when the main batteries are at low charge, and also when the detector is at end of life. If I remember when it's at the end of its life it will go off once every 60 seconds, but the light will remain green.

Usually a 7 year life span for a CO detector. Last time one in the house expired, it went into the full alarm mode, not just an occasional beep.

Ammonia fumes can also trigger a false activation.

Just had to replace one in my house this week.

When a charger is charging batteries, the batteries give off hydrogen gas. Depending on the health of the battery and the type of charger, this gas can be excessive and build up. It will set off a CO monitor. Dock neighbor’s would go off just sitting in the slip. Replaced OEM charger with a smart charger, problem solved. Another dock neighbor, same thing. Replaced batteries as charger was new. Problem solved.
