So after exploring around the weekend, we found several popular spots to drop anchor or grab a mooring. I think our favorite out of the list was Peddock's island - Perry Cove. you can grab a ball for $15-20 for the day or $25 for the overnight or anchor in the 10-15ft of water and sandy bottom for free. Another nice spot is on the backside of Spectacle Island. Anyone have any other suggestions? We'll be going out again on Friday to explore more locations.

Thanks Charlie! We are still exploring so it's always great to get tips from others. Too bad I have such a hectic week on the road, else I'd slip out for a quick look!

Troubadour -

Another great place to grab a mooring is over at Worlds End in Hingham... it is very protected and is a popular spot for overnighters. I used to keep my boat at Marina Bay and it was one of our favorites - you felt like you were a long ways from anywhere.

Scituate Harbor is a fun place also if you can find a mooring...

We stayed overnight in Hingham harbor, which was really nice. The Harbormaster was very accomodating and gave us some solid dining recommendations. We ate at a place called Tosca which was excellent!

The channel is a bit narrow but easily navigable.

We were on our way to check out Scituate on Sunday but then got interrupted by s distress call... Someone's boat caught fire off Hull so we assisted there until CG and Boston fire arrived. Lucky for them it was just the whole electrical system burning and didn't errupt into something worse.

Just remember, if you do just "grab" a mooring... and it's not through a marina or Harbormaster, it's private and leased or owned by someone... ;)
