I have a problem. My white seats have black dye on them from a new black pair of shorts that had gotten wet. The dye from them bleed and rubbed off onto the seats of 190BR. I'm not sure what to use. Can I use water and bleach or will the bleach damage the seat material? I don't want to take a chance of damaging it. Warm soapy water won't get it off. Or will I have to spray dye the seats white?

I have been informed to never use any bleach product as it will make the sewn seam threads deteriorate and come apart.

If you find something which works let me know

My boat surveyor told me to use "Crud be gone" available at Lowe's typical in the paint department, comes in a spray bottle like the other spray cleaners do and a Mr. Clean '"Eraser." I have two small spots which look like ground in grease on the arm rest and this procedure did not work on the spots. It did however clean the rest of the seat.

Good luck

Use Spray 9 first. It has no solvents that damage vinyl. It's just detergent. If that does not work, you can use bleach but dilute a half cup in a gallon of water.

Best regards,
Frank

We tried them all to no avail, spray nine, hair spray, goo gone, rubbing alchohol, fingernail polish remover and the only one that worked was clearesil, which worked great we can't even see the marks!

The sun will eventually bleach it. Try some cleaners as well.

I have tried everything from Vinyl Magic to Oxyclean and of course the host of available cleaners for boats and vinyl and there is nothing ... I mean nothing that cleans as well as Spray Nine marine spray. With dye I think the trick is to treat it with Spary Nine and then let it sit in the sun ... I am almost positive it willbleach out from the sunlight. I once left the rubber side of the cockpit carpet sit on the white vinyl of my seats just overnight ... DON'T DO IT!! I had a black pattern that lasted for a week. I left the vinyl in the sun for a day the follwoing weekend and the black stain was gone.

MM's service department was able to get EVERY stain off my vinyl, including ink. I finally asked them what they use. Try Roll Off (Google it). I haven't gotten mine yet, but the service manager said it is all they use.

Tim...I will try that. I have a spot (that was left from the design on a plastic tumbler) on a piece of vinyl that is vertical...and is underneath the bimini canvas...so it does not get much direct sunlight. I have tried Spray 9 and soft scrub with bleach...and it is still there.

I'll have to try this stuff too.
Whenever I have had a stain I could not get off with any "approved" cleaners, I always go to the bleach/water mixture. And, take the cover off and let it sit out in the sun for a few days. That bleach/water always works on anything I've had trouble with.

I've owned the boat for 3 years, it's a 1995, and still no apparent damage from using it. Seats look nearly new.

Tom

If all else fails, let it sit in the sun for a few days, that will probably do the job- has for me.

The "unmentionable" marine supplier (BF) has the lowest price on Roll Off cleaner !!

Okay now PLEASE don't beat me for mentioning this nasty store ...
