I have been taking my canvas off my boat to clean and treat it. My slip neighbor told me he justs cleans and treats his installed on his boat. Does anyone have experience doing it this way?? Pro's/Cons ??? Any suggestions other than the 303 I have been using ???

Take it off. I just did mine. Can't imagine how I would get on the boat to waterproof the canvas in addition to not getting the treatment all over everything else. I used all 303 stuff (Cleaner then water proofer). You can't really clean it well while installed (scrubbing or power washing) you can't really treat it properly (should lay flat to dry) either.

My $.02

Good luck!

I clean and treat my canvas installed.

I rinse it all, wash it all with a brush on the boats hooker pole, rinse, let it air dry, remove all the side panels, use a step latter and open parts of the top just far enough and treat with 303 fabric guard.

I cover parts I don’t want to get 303 on.

Off the boat I treat the side panels.

I washed mine in LARGE commerical washer last year (bleach and Tide) and was happy with cleaning results and then treated with 303.

If you have mildew pre-treat it before washing.

I washed mine in a commercial washer a couple of weeks ago with Ivory Snow liquid. Came out very nice. Smelled like a clean diaper, too.

I treat them with the 303 waterproofer by hanging them vertically from the support poles and spraying them. Just gotta do it on a day with no wind.
