My prop isn't one of those highly polished units, but I do want to keep it clean, and what better way to do it than sitting in front of the television on a winter's night.

The prop was thoroughly covered with corrosion from sitting in the fresh water river. I started out using a drill with abrasive wheel to remove the grunge, but ran into problems with the angles. I had read that toilet bowl cleaner did a good job, so I ran to the dollar store and got a bottle of The Works cleaner. I was very pleased with how well it worked. The stuff came off so easily I was suspicious that it wasn't really cleaning, but nothing more than a toothbrush was needed.

I wish everything worked this well!

The Works green cap works well, the blue cap does not all. If I remember correctly, the green cap is diluted muriatic acid.

Consider a good coat of metal polish on prop to have the "clean" last longer.
