My cockpit carpets are starting to age & after getting wet recently when I took them up I noticed they had left black rubber residue from the backing on the fiberglass cockpit floor. The rubber residue did not come up with the brush I normally use to clean the boat nor did it come up when I tried to gently use a scotch brite type pad. I also tried some black steak remover which didn't seem to work. Any recommendations on what works best to clean off this type of residue & won't scratch the fiberglass surface underneath? Thanks
