On my new to me 1998 400EC, I'm going through all of the systems that haven't been used in a while, including fresh water. I've run fresh water through the system and have added some bleach. The smell has definitely gotten better.

My question is about the water being very foamy. Anyone see this before? What causes it? Both hot and cold have been foamy and after running a few gallons through, it's almost gone from the cold, but I can't seem to get anywhere on the hot. And it's still not completely gone for the cold either. It's very white, foamy water that once you let it fill the sink, and then turn off the water, it slowly clears up and becomes almost clear.

Thoughts?

Does your system pressure up without the pump cycling from time to time?

Do you get the same foaming if you connect the hose to the water supply connection?

I would say just keep flushing flushing flushing......

It maintains good pressure at all times. I think the pump cycles appropriately.

I haven't tried the dockside water inlet - that's a good idea.

Someone probably added antifreeze to the hot water heater
and water tank to winteriize the water system. The residual antifreeze is difficult to get rid of and can cause the foaming you describe. It needs to be flushed out. Subsequent winterizations then need to be done properly by bypassing the hot water heater to avoid a repeat of the symptoms.

I would try filling the fresh water tank with fresh water two times and then running it dry with cold water taps open. Sounds like the cold water lines are close to being flushed out already. Then I would hook up to the dock water supply and turn on all the hot water taps until water quality improves. Once that happens, refilled the fresh water tank and cycle through it every 3-5 days to keep it fresh. Don't allow it to sit in the tank without using it.

That's probably exactly what the issue is. Thanks for that info. I'll do some more flushing.
