What make canvas? Normally soap & water and 303.
Most canvas compaines have website and tell you what you should use.

Spurdog... I can attest to the Meguiars cleaning stuff... I have all three steps works great...
I aksed this question a while back... I haved used starbrite, aquatite, and others... the general consensus is the 303 waterproofer to be best and the only one that sunbrella suggests...

I'll give the 303 a shot. Would you clean with a mild dish soap, let dry then use the 303 protectant?

What type of canvas do you have? If your canvas is dirty then look on the manufactures website. I washed mine in a large washing machine cold water only then do not dry... air dry only. Then treat with 303 after it is clean. Oh I have sunbrella...

When we bought our boat 6 yrs ago I contacted Sunbrella and Ivory liquid and a little bit of bleach if you have any mold on them, air dry and then the 303. We had to recoat them about 3 years ago and we will be doing them again this year. 303 is great stuff, the first time I used it I had the canvas on the dock and every time it rained you could see were the canvas was.

Do the 303

Yes use the baby wash Ivory soap powder. It is very mild and it works well. I done both in a washing machine cold water and a buck of the mixture and a brush. While the washing machine is easier, I like the brush better since you can scrub any dirty areas. For protection, I use DCS19. I buy it by the gallon and just use a spray bottle. It seems to protect longer.

Go light with a pressure washer and you'll be amazed.
When I first got my boat the previous owner hadn't cleaned in quite some time. I got after it and I still keep it up and it looks good.

Hey todd, sunbrella specificly states no hi pressure washing as it damages the weave of the material...

I have only ever power washed my canvas, just dont go too crazy with it. My last set of canvas was only powerwashed with no soap of any kind and it help up for 14 years.

Dishwashing detergent isn't considered mild, so that can be overkill for general cleaning, but it works if you're trying to remove stains. Sunbrella recommends using mild laundry soap.

Do NOT use 303 Protectant on the canvas!!! Their protectant is an alternative to products like ArmorAll -it's oily and meant for hard/solid surfaces. They make a separate product called Fabric Guard to treat the canvas.

I don't treat the coated top portions. They're already waterproof and if you over-apply waterproofing, the runoff can damage eisenglass.

This is the way I do it!~
