I am wanting to clean the glomex antenna and the radar to remove the acid rain buildup of dirt and grime. I was thinking of using CLR with a sponge to see if I can get both units white again. Any suggestions or precautions I need to do?

Thanks!

Check the glomex thread in either the maintenance forum or the Electronics Q&A forum. I tried Spray-9 on mine initially which helped, but it was pretty pitted/discolored from the previous owner's lack of attention. Called IMTRA, was put in touch with Terry, and they replaced it under warranty. All it cost was the shipping from my side. Great deal.

Now I wax that along with my enclosed radar dome several times a season whenever waxing the boat. Cleaner wax then protective wax coating. So far, so good!

All required info / details are in the thread along with several other success stories for replacements.

I used bleach on mine to get the black off but that was only to store it when I removed it. I have satellite now but kept it in case someone wants it at resale.

I remove ours and spray it with bleach. Thats the only thing that soaks in and kills the mold which is causing the discoloration. As far as protecting it I don't have any ideas as I think the sun turns the plastic porous and trying to get something to seal that is going to be tricky. Another thought would be to remove them and paint them with that Krylon Fusion paint. Only concern would be matching the color so it doesn't look like you painted it. Maybe satin finish clear after its cleaned? Thats another idea.
The radar dome would be tricky unless you could remove it. Does anyone know how to remove an open array? Don't wanna open a can of worms just to clean the thing though.
