The air conditioning on my 2000 340 Sundancer works just fine. I do not use it very often. So, I have not cleaned out the filter in the seacock located in the bilge in a long time....

I looked up the cleaning process online and it appears to be simple. However, I also read that you might need to prime the pump afterward? Maybe??? Possibly????

Is there any trick/technique to cleaning out this filter in the seacock?

I dont want to break it since it's not broke

Can anyone tell me the process on how to do it?

Close seacock- take cover off strainer- clean- replace- fasten cover- open seacock. You should not lose prime. The system will remain full and so will the strainer bowl. Should be easy job.

Yup.

That procedure is correct, but at least on my 340 with the 8.1's, just getting down into the bilge to reach the A/C strainer without ripping a shirt or getting a bruise... that's always my challenge :) With the sterndrive configuration you probably have a lot more room in the engine compartment than I do.

be_prepared, I have the same boat (with 8.1s) as you but 2001 and my AC strainer is hard to reach as well. As an added bonus Sea Ray decided to mount it in such a way that the wiring harness clamps must be unscrewed from the bulkhead to remove the strainer basket :smt021
