Every year we clean our Eisenglass with Plexus which does a great job. However, this winter we left our sun cover off the front Eisenglass to enable us to get cruising quicker. Don't know if it was because we didn't have it covered (it was still quite hot here), but this year we just can't get some of the gunk off the front windows. Our back aft curtain window cleaned up great, just as always. Anyone have any idea on how to get rid of this please:

Meguire's makes a product called "PlasticX" I believe. It cleaned mine up perfect. Also great for small scratches in plexiglass or any polycarbonate.

I got this stuff at the boat show last fall:http://amzn.com/B00MHO65O2. It was recommended by Practical Sailor (think Consumer Reports for sailboats) and did a great job on the curtains the PO had just found the week before that I am not sure had ever been cleaned in 17 years. I was pretty shocked how well it came out. It is definitely worth a try. I posted about it last fall here: http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/69599-SeaRay-at-the-Annapolis-Boat-Show, and someone else started a thread about it based on my recommendation: http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/69998-Eisenshine.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Bryan I will order some today.

Just to report back that it arrived safely. We followed the instructions implicitly and although it cleaned the center of the panes really well the edges that have some kind of buildup on them it didn't shift at all.

Don't know if the buildup, which is on our front three panes only, is from having the large white cover we have on in summer or not. Although the cover also covers the sides too and they are okay. So still don't know how to clean them completely. Our detailer comes next week to do its annual polish so will see if he can help:)

That is glass cancer once it starts it is done!

Oh heck, was wondering about that-:( Do you know what causes it please, so we can avoid it when we replace with new? Thx!

that happened to mine last year only one year old canvas left them up over the winter under the shrink wrap.they were toast, replaced them in the fall put them away this past winter and so far this spring looks good I guess the heat under the cover??

That's what I was afraid of. We have it covered in the summer as it's so hot here. Will have to have a rethink-:(

I have helped a friend with this issue. We tested a small area first. Then we masked the fabric and put the window against plywood with a towel to protect the inside. We taped the heck out of it to hold it in place. Then took it to a 1,1/2" buffing wheel with mild compound bar for acrylic. Away it went.

mine looked like little air bubbles in it . looked blurry tried the flitz and everything else damage was done

Oh joy! This sucks, looks like we have to have 3 new ones. They are not that old really, plus the $100 each one is for the zip insertions-:(

For future reference anyone any idea on how long they generally last? I think ours are just about pushing 4 years. I thought they would have lasted longer but if it's because they were covered up will make sure any new ones we get aren't:)

Ours are going on 6 years, they still look almost new, we were indoor rack storage till last winter when we moved to a boat house. Boat was just pulled last week for bottom & drive paint, bellows, gimbal bearing & whatever else is found. Just keep spending money it never ends.

LOL Bob & Sue, know the feeling guess that's why we all belong to The Hole in the Water Club:)

when you have them redone go with no less than 30. gauge sheet eisenglass not "roll". the roll is what comes from the factory canvas which is garbage, I opted for 40. gauge opticlear its thicker and clearer any good canvas shop should have and or know about this. on my previous boat the canvas from a custom canvas shop lasted 10 years and was going strong until "Sandy" destroyed it!. my one year old factory canvas from" great lakes" lasted all of 1 year buyer beware

Wow thanks so much for the info. This was from Great Lakes. We bought it when we bought the boat. Will ask my canvas guy what he can do. Many thx again!!!

Britlady... did you ever get the glass cancer out? I have a few little spots of that starting. Was thinking about trying PlastX or Novus.
