I recently had my air conditioning hoses cleaned, and I was surprised to see such a large amount of barnacles.
Now I am wondering about the cooling hoses to the engines and generator. How often do you have them cleaned as well?

Cooling hoses don’t have the water flow (oxygen) that ac lines have. Typically you don’t see barnacles in there. You will have calcium build up over time. We clean our aftercooler and heat exchangers every 2 years

Do you run the AC all the time? Or the dehumidification program? You might consider getting a dehumidifier that will drain into a sink and leaving the AC off when you are not using the boat. You can put a bromide tablet in the AC strainer, but you will need to check and replace the tablet every week or so. If money is no object, you could install one of these.

Since you're in Florida and may use user AC alot, maybe you wan to check out Electrosea Clearline.

Seems like it's basically a marine-specific salt water chlorine generator. Uses electricity to split the salt to make a low level amount of chlorine. It's fed into the AC plumbing when the AC pump it running. It kills the barnacle seeds so they can't grow.

I know of a guy that services big yachts in Florida that's been installing a lot of these units. He says they both reliable and effective, especially when boating in warm waters like Florida. They start around $4000 installed so not sure how how cost efficient it is for a 32 foot boat but it might be if you are getting a lot of fouling.

I think I saw a recommendation on her to put a copper fitting in the strainer basket to get rid of the growth. I tried this out this past season with a half inch copper elbow and it worked extremely well. Sight glass on my AC strainer would be filed with growth by the end of the season. This year it was crystal clear. Note I also have plastic strainer baskets so no issues with dissimilar metals. But cheapest fix I've done to date.
