Most everyone may know this but I did not think of it. I was installing a different vent for my air conditioner. In the process I noticed the return air vent has a filter over it just like my home air conditioner. Duh? I just had not thought about it so it was very nasty. Cleaned up no problem though. I also noticed on my self contained unit from Cruisair there is another filter located on the unit itself which also needed to be cleaned.

Can you tell me where these filters are located? I also have a crusiair AC

What year is your 340? I have a 1987 with two cooling units. One unit is under the seat in the galley and the other one is located behing an access panel directley below the electrical panel next to the steps into the galley. If your boat is much older or newer, this may not be of any help. R

Mine i found by accident under the mattress, there's a pull up panel under the mattress, and the filter is where the cabin air flow sucks out it pulls straight out....should be the same on your 34....

i cleaned it and also vacuumed out the vent under the berth..

I noticed last summer, my first with this boat, that the AC wasn't blowing too good. I checked under the fwd berth and found no filter. It took me a while to figure out how to do it but I got the grill off of the return under the fwd berth. What I found under the grill was a metal filter like you see on a stove range hood. It was clogged with dust! The PO of my boat was meticulous with all the other things on the boat but I think he was not aware of this filter. Washed it out and put it back in. Blows ice cold now!! On my boat the return air vent with the "metal filter like you see on a stove range hood" is under the stern most seat of the dining table on my port side. Lift up the seat cushion to get to it. My self contained air conditioner is located under that seat. On the side of the AC unit facing the return air vent is another filter attached directly to the air conditioner unit.
