I have finally had enough of the clarion xmd1 and using a transmitter to play music from my phone each weekend. I am going to replace all of the speakers and sub since everything is original and I want to update it all at once. I am looking for something that is bluetooth capable and that seems to be standard now on most head units. Before I go to our local audio shop and have them try and sell me what is in their best interest, does anyone have a good recommendation for head units as well as speakers? To my knowledge the current sub has an amp already so I will utilize that and keep the current wiring if possible.

JL Audio M series (not MX) speakers in whatever size you require. They are magic. I own 6.5" 7.7" 8.8" and a couple 10" subs. All phenomenal and they get better with size. The 8.8" blow me away, but they are very big. The 7.7" are the sweet spot in my opinion. Their amps are very nice as well.

Fusion seems to be the head unit of choice. I have one. It's quite nice as well.

I know one show who wont sell you whats in their best interest, but let you demo what they feel will meet your goals.

JL is certainly worth looking at. However, in the 6.5" and 7.7 size, id go with the MX over the M.

if you want to get into the JL M price range and/or the 8.8 speaker size, hands down, the Wet Sound new Revo-6 and Revo-8. Eight grill options and RGB LEDs includes.

Before picking a woofer, you want to know what amp is being retained and how the woofer is installed. brand is less important then proper wattage paring and alignment.

Head unit: Clarion M505 or M606. Going all out, id go with the Kicker KMC20.

I would also entertain the Kicker KM654 6.5 or the KM8 8" marine speakers. Quality built marine speakers with a solid sound. They will handle plenty of power and offer LEDs and two grill options. The KM-10 woofer is one of the most musical marine 10's on the market IMO.

I just installed 6 new kicker 6.5 's with the leds. The led is a nice touch but remember you will also have to run rgb wire to all the speakers. Love them so far, and they were quite the up grade from factory. Ran them off a kicker marine amp as well i also added two memphis marine 10's.
