Clarion Upgrade

Does anyone know off-hand if the newer Clarion CMD4A will work with the older version remote and CD Changer? Reflection is a year 2000 and I don't remember the specific model number of the existing unit, but I like the large buttons and more intuitive layout of the newer clarion unit.

I have plenty of room if the cutout needs to be modified, and amplifier and speaker setup is fine. Mostly, it's the fact that I'm growing weary of miniscule, multi-function buttons. That and the fact that the built-int cassette feature of the existing unit has never been used, is leading me towards a changeout.

(Damn these winter projects!!!)

found this thread in a search.

don't have your answer but thought if if was bumped to the top you might get some help.

I assume since you said it was a cassette with cd changer it could be the XMA1. This is what the XMA1 looks like

Thats the one I have on my 01', but I do not have a remote. Did it originally come with one? :smt017

The XMA1 should have a connection for a wired remote but I have no idea which remotes would be compatible.

I currently have a XMD2 which I will be switching to a XMD3. The XMD2 is a AM/FM/CD but does not have aux input.

That's why I like the XMA1 because I can plug my ipod into the tape deck. If I upgraded I would also need one the a aux input to avoid using a FM Modulator
