Clarion stereo replacement

Is there a din kit for the factory clarion XMD1 stereo? I am replacing my stereo with a standard din Sony but the original opening is much larger. I was thinking about making one out of 1/4 plywood and painting it black but would rather purchase a plastic kit.

the face plate is bigger on the clarion but the cutout should be the same size. Have you removed the radio yet?

You can get black ABS plastic sheets off ebay for a reasonable price.

I took the stereo out and the cut out is about 20 percent larger than the standard din. What type of store might I find some of this plastic?

I have used a plastic cutting board bought at hardware store when you need a small piece of "ABS type" material to fabricate.
Not sure you will find it in black.

going through same issue. For the challenged like myself, can someone walk me through retrofitting the opening?

I will take pictures of my retrofit this weekend. I found a piece of black acrylic which I will place over the new filler. Replace the old clarion radio / 6 disc CD Changer with a newer unit from a 2001 28 Dancer (all in one unit).
