Clarion CMD5 Issues

I have bass now. The women are going to like sitting on the seat above it, that's for sure.
Thanks a lot for the help, looks like its working as it should, finally.

FANTASTIC!! What did you figure out - just curious?

It was the base boost, on the amplifier. I turned it on, and boom! But now I know more about the settings in the radio, and the amplifier.
Now I can put everything back together. It's a real pain to get the stereo out, but now that things are working properly I shouldn't have to remove it again.
I appreciate all the people that helped me get this working properly.

I hooked an rca cable from the purple wires on the receiver to #5&6 on the amp.
It doesn't do anything for my subwoofer.
I can tell now that the sub isn't really putting anything out, didn't really pay attention to it before.
Chnls 5/6 can get a signal pass-through from the other channels, so no RCA is needed, which is how it looks like the amp is setup to do. if so, then connecting the discrete RCA to the 5/6 inputs, would not make a difference.

Also note, that those purple non-fade are adjustable, so if you do plan to use them and change the amp setting, then the non-fade likely needs to NOT be set to its lowest point.

I turned the bass up on the radio also.
This setting does not impact the woofer performance, but can over drive the full-range speakers, causing damage.

I also do not think you woofer's poor performance is do to the Bass-Boost switch being off. Bass-Boost typically attenuates a single bass frequency, like 40Hz and at a fixed dB. So the increase you noticed by turning that switch to ON, is a single frequency being, well, boosted. I rarely use Bass-Boost.

I will turn the bass on the radio back down. I wonder why the woofer wasn't doing much before?
Thank you for the help.

The woofer is tied to the front/rear fade and left/right balance as its signal is coming through from the other channels, so you would first want to make sure those are centered.

There are other amplifier settings that impact the woofer's performance, that I would want to investigate before introducing bass-boost.

You can run the woofer with a discrete input, using the purple non-fades, but you then need to change a setting on the amp, so chnls 5/6 "look" for that direct signal input, rather then the pass-through signal.
