Hi All,

Working out a deal on a used 310 that includes upgrading the stock head unit/remote.

I'm trying to decipher the difference between the CMD5 and the CMD6 heads/remotes.

It appears that the wired remote of the CDM6 offers some additional functionality. Also, the CMD6 provides Bluetooth and USB.

Anyone familiar with both comment on the differences as they pertain to SAT radio and iPod connectivity/functionality?

Thanks

I looked at upgrading to the CMD6 and recall that the connections to the SAT were different, requiring purchase of a new SAT decoder. I also recall that the wiring to the remotes is different and not interchangeable. I ended-up calling Clarion, told them what I wanted to do, and they essentially talked me out of it given the additional cost and wiring required. I would go with the 6 if I were installing new, from the ground-up.

Thanks.

With the CMD5...

I'm wondering about iPod control from the on-dash remote. Can you scroll your library or just go up/down the playlist?

I'm also wondering about SAT control from the remote. Are you limited to selecting presets or can you freestyle to any station?

TIA for your help.

Thanks.

The 6 allows you scroll through songs with the remote in your ipod. the 5 does not. SAT is controlled by remote with both 5 and 6

On the CMD5 - no Sirius presets can be accessed by the remote. You must select up and down thru the entire channel list sequentially (1,2,3,etc) to find your desired station. It can take a while to go from Hits 1 to Margaritaville.
