Wow, this just started. Took my boat out last week with no issue. No strange noises on flush out. Took the boat out this weekend, came home to flush and when I started her up I have this "clacking" sound coming from the outdrive. The "clacking" runs in time with the engine. The sound is not coming from the engine department. It is clearly coming from the outdrive area. I did brush the bottom (soft sand) today, but it was very light. I have hit harder with no issue.
Tried with various configurations - throttle up in neutral trim up, throttle up in neutral trim down, throttle up in gear with trim down. Sound is consistent at the low end of the RPM spectrum. The farther up the RPMs the less the noise.
