Chrome searay emblem

You can buy them from Sea Ray dealers. I bought 2 for my 1990 Sundancer 270DA with no problem from one here on Long Island.

I am planning on getting a full set of gold emblems from that guy on Ebay. Full sets seem to be going for around $60 + shipping.

Mine are 11 years old and have some pits due to salt air/water exposure. the dealer wanted $98/side so I looked for an alternative and found the guy on ebay. I won the auction @$51 for the 4 pc set and ordered them. When they came, the plating on the larger emblems had a lot of bubbles in it. I know salt water exposure and those emblems wouldn't have made a year in our sun/heat etc.

It was a simple problem.......2 bad emblems, it happens, so just exchange them for good ones. So I emailed they seller thru the ebay system .....heck, I even offered to pay the shipping. No response. This the electronic age, and stuff happens, so I resent the email labled "2nd try-please respond" . Again, no response. I waited 3 weeks and again, no response.

Well, I got into this big boat thing after I retired early in order to change a "Type A; go for the throat; stress related heart attack poster child life style" to one that avoids confrontation, is relaxed and has fun. But, when I get enough I get enough, so I decided to make a projeect out of this guy. I sent a final email labled "3rd and final try" and told him I would either handle further communication thru ebay's feedback system or dispute resolution process available thru Paypal or ebay. Waited 3 weeks.....no reply.

So, I posted negative feedback saying the embles were of poor quality and the seller refused to respond...BE CAREFUL! So within an hour the telephone rings and its Mr. Tobin, the emblem guy. He begs me to withdraw the feedback because he buys his health insurance thru ebay as a power seller and he will loose it if he gets negative feedback and feeds me a line of crap about missing my emails because he has to use a computer at his school for is ebay stuff and their spam filter catches everything. I agreed to withdraw the feedback if he replaced the bad emblems which he did.

This is a long story to tell you to carefully read the sellers feedback, not just if he has a positive rating. You will see he has a lot of feedback comments that say "feedback mutually withdrawn"......well, there is a reason for that and I now know what it is! It took a total of 16 weeks from the time I won the auction to the time I finally got useable emblems....the hassle and the brief return to "go fo the throat" mentality wasn't worth the savings.

If you buy from the guy on ebay, go into it with your eyes open to the potential problems. Gee......I feel better again and I"m still making a project out of Mr. Emblem.

I just bought them on ebay. I hope every thing works out. His feed back was 100%. Thanks for all your help!

Hi,, the person selling those (other) inferior emblems is no longer on ebay. Gone!!

I took the SR emblems off the sides of my boat. Everyone knew it was a SR and they were located in a spot that made detailing the boat more difficult. Cleaner look all the way around.

HI,, THERE WAS SOMEONE CALLED UAUKNOW AND COMFORTZONE ON EBAY, HE HAS BEEN TERMINATED!! THANKS EBAY!

UAUKNOW is back on Ebay. He seems to be the only one listing gold emblems. His description says "after a small misunderstanding we are back". Did anyone have problems with this seller?

YES.............

Please read my post dated 3/2/08 in this thread.

Generally, this guy will ship you your emblems but if you have a problem the only way you can get resolution....heck, even get him to talk to you..... is to threaten him and leave negative feedback.

The reason he has a positive feedback score on eBay is because he will promise you a quick solution to any problem you have if you will agree to mutually withdraw the negative feedback. Don't fall for his song and dance about needing healtth insurance thru eBay either.

I made a project out of preventing this guy from screwing me and I did finally get a set of very good quality emblems, but now I am afraid to put them on my boat.....due to bad Karma or bad Ju-Ju, superstition......or just plain hard headedness.

Thanks Frank, I read your post a few weeks ago and didn't realize that we were talking about the same guy. There's alot of them on Ebay but I've been lucky enough to avoid them over the past few years.

Ebay is a great place and there are alot of honest sellers , I had to learn the basics the hard way,,:smt100 check the pictures, are they clear and precise or fuzzy or blury:smt101,, beware of USER ID KEPT PRIVATE listings, where you cannot see who is bidding,,:smt024 ?? Is the price toooo good to be true?, make sure they are genuine, not aftermarket or OEM???(what country makes OEM). You can usually tell the real ones,, the gold or chrome finish is exceptional and shiny like a car bumper. Sorry to toot my horn,, but I too got taken :smt021 and have learned my lesson! EBAY ADDICT

Thank you for the lesson on how to use eBay, but this ain't my first rodeo. I did everything correctly, the pix looked great even a 500%, but the item shipped was obviously not the item pictured in the listing. The problems came up when the seller....with 99.8% positive feedback at the time.....did not respond to any communication at all. We only got something done by leaving negative feedback which got his attention. As I said, we made a project out of him and eventually got a perfect set of emblems.

Hello Frank,, yes me to,,I though the same,, when I got em I ended up breaking one in half when I tried to get it out of the shrink wrap????? all thumbs?? I took your advise too about reading into what the feed back says and finding the old removed (but still there) negatives,, thanks !:smt013
