Christmas Gifts for the wife.

Resurrecting....I don't have a built-in inverter and right now don't care to buy 12v appliances. I do have something like this: http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...erter-en120/10421983-P?searchTerm=12v+adapter

Laugh if you like, but....will that do the job for an appliance such as a regular blender/Ninja bullet type deal? So far we've used it to charge cell phones and similar electronics and to run an LED disco ball. I don't want to short out an appliance that might have create a bigger draw, or anything on the boat, either!

I think this is a simple as looking into how many watts the blender uses. I think you will find they will use quite a few more than your example above is capable of. I did a quick search and found a Ninja Bullet on Amazon that says it needs 900w. That said, you would need a minimum of 900w to run it.

I have a 12v TV and bought an Apple TV to use with it. The Apple TV uses 45 watts and I bought a 300w Bestek inverter that plugs into a cigarette outlet as yours does.

"and to run an LED disco ball." I have to ask, where do you use the disco ball? Pictures are a must on this one

Depends on who's on the boat! :smt043

And thanks for the math reminder, Bennett--exactly what I needed to jog my brain--AND the product suggestion. Didn't realize prices might be that reasonable for things with higher wattage....I think I see some Girls' Weekend pina coladas in my future!!!

Well....it's not Christmas, but it is my work anniversary. Last time I looked at the corp gift site, this wasn't on it, but it's looking very attractive. (And it confirms that my company is way cheap compared to First Mate's. We're one of the largest healthcare companies in the States and my 15 year gift is worth $50 - $100. His company is privately owned and has fewer than 400 employees....and his 15 year gift is worth $300!! I guess that means HE gets to buy the blender!)

Guys, be very, very careful buying things that appear to be or can be mistaken for appliances for your wife's birthday, holidays etc. Or things that you want as much as she does. This can go really bad, really fast - about 15yrs ago - at her request - I bought my wife an iced tea maker. Christmas 2001 - ask me how I remember that!

This bugs the living daylights out of me--if you don't REALLY want an appliance, it's beyond unfair to gift givers to say you do. 15 years later, I don't have to take your wife out behind the woodshed, Bill, but if anyone else has this problem, just let me know and I'll be happy to help, Admiral to Admiral!

This past Christmas, First Mate said, "I guess a pressure washer wouldn't really count as a gift for you, even though you want one, if I'd keep it at my house and would use it on my stuff a lot more than you?" You are correct, First Mate, and you live to captain another day!
