People are always asking me what I want for Christmas and I seem to always seem to draw a blank. I pretty much buy what I want throughout the year whenever I think of it. And that's the key, sometimes I just don't think of some of the really cool stuff until I see someone else with it. So the idea of this thread is for people to post neat gift ideas that they either already have or want to have. I'm not talking about big ticket items but more like items of around $100 or less.

Hopefully this will go somewhere.

Here's one thing I got that's a must-have:

There is an app for iphone and android from NAVIONICS that can be loaded and/or transferred to your phone or tablet. It its a full color real time chart ploter/gps that shows your speed, course, location and a number of other things. You can also track and save your trips and save them. I have the lakes and rivers version which I think is great. It actually is near dead on accurate in showing location of channel markers as well as the location of all of the rock dikes. A must have for any boater and would make for a good back up low cost plotter. Cost was only $9.99 from the app store. Not sure there is a link though ...sorry.

I like to suggest a donation to a charity in the person's name. I have enough "stuff" and rather than someone dropping $100 on something I won't use most likely, they can donate it using my name. We do that at my company as well. Instead of buying clients a gift, wine, etc., we donate to a charity and they receive email notification showing it was done.

We do the same and give generously each year but I'm looking for marine related gift ideas.

I bought one of these a few years ago. Works great.

A few ideas from surehold ,like the line cleaner brush and the bucket bottom thing.

I have thought about this thread since I posted above and have some more ideas....

A decent pair of sunglasses

Some new flares

A 'horsecollar' inflatable pfd

Some new dock lines

A gift card for gas/diesel at the marina

A gift card for the favorite restaurant you stop at when you're on the boat

A few boating mag subscriptions

A WestMarine or (substitute your favorite marine store name here) gift card

An assortment of cleaning products--new white towels, 303, Spray Nine, boat wax, etc.

Sperry's are always nice.
