I've been reading about the triangle tour a bit online. It involves a couple of different rivers and navigating through a few locks. Can anyone offer any advice on this trip. Also wondering how long the trip takes.

If you are talking about the river ride, it consists of the following:

1. You enter the Chicago River via the Chicago Lock located just South of Navy Pier
2. Head west and south on the river approx 12 miles to the junction of the Illinois/Calumet Rivers
3. Turn left and head back to the east approx 14 miles to the O'Brien Lock
4. After exiting the O'Brien lock it is approx 2.5 miles back to Lake Michigan Calumet Harbor.
5. From there you can head back up north 14 mile to the start point in downtown Chicago or go Southeast 2 miles to Hammond Marina

You can make the entire trip in about 4-5 hours at a slow cruise.
Somewhat scenic, somewhat depressing.
A few places on the Cal to stop at for lunch and a few cold ones at the O'Brien Lock
Usually a good time.

Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions

I have also been aspiring to cruise the triangle tour. However, I always like to take a couple days off the boat at whatever port I end up at and stay in a hotel, see the sites, etc. If I decide to stay in Chicago, I won't know where to stay because I have never visited there before. Can someone suggest some Chicago hotels that I should look into? I got word of "Choose Chicago" has anyone used them before?
Thanks for any advice!
