Chesapeake Bay Irene preparations...

I'm ready, boat has doubled lines, bumpers out and canvas removed. The marina is filled with big boats from MD, NJ and even NY.

Huge cajones!

Edit - You getting hammered Rick?

Yep

Power went out at the house while I was at the marina checking on the boat. Power went out at the marina while I was on the boat checking on it. Got the generator running on the boat and camped out on the boat right now using cell phone air card.

Really, so where you are from do you "bump off"? How does that work?

Seriously, is it that big of a deal that I have heard them referred to as bumpers? As a licensed USCG OUPV operator I've heard them called many different things.

You're nuts Rick! Stay safe.

I hope you don't go down with the ship!

No girls on board, so that is not an option...

Beats sitting at home with no power. Generator is going, charging my cell, charging my laptop, have Internet, Radio, TV, movies, food, drink. Hell, the only thing I'm missing is female companionship.

So what are the conditions like at your boat? How high is the tide? Any damage is sight?

Wind about 40 - 50 mph. Tide 8 feet above normal. Docks are floating and the steel poles are long enough to keep the docks in place. Tied to the pier with 8 lines and 4 fenders, so other than a little bumping around and some wind noise, it's not too bad.

No damage to anything that I could see.

My 460da is in Harbor View in baltimore Inner Harbor. Should be OK. Took off the Canvas, 6 fenders and triple lines. I'm in Annapolis on my sailboat - gusts to 50mph but fairly flat seas. Expect winds to start to decease in 3 hours.

Mine's on land, on a rack, with 6 lines holding her in place. The year before I bought my boat, the storm surge from one of the hurricanes floated some of the boats across the street. One of them ended up docked in the living room of the house across the street.

I'm nervous because I didn't hang any bumpers on her... But the chrome clashes with the blue hull.

That's the way I look at it as well. I don't have generator at home, but I do in my "floating home". Since they predicted only up to 75-80MPH winds I decided to stay on the boat and make necessary adjustments. The high water level was my biggest concern, so I have to readjust the lines. It was a bumpy night, but very managable. Some boats were really rocking, though. The high tide here is at 12pm and the water level is already over x2 of normal high tide.

Slept pretty well, gven I was on the back side of a hurricane. No damage, back at the house and the power guys have the electric back on. Went to the offce and all the servers are happy. No electric at the marina, but, have the generator running.

Hope everyone made it through as well as I.
