Chesapeake Bay bridge today.

Cool! I read about that last night. They had around 10 feet of clearance under the bridge.

They still have to go under the Key Bridge to get into Baltimore Harbor too.

So they again risked losing the bridges rather than ship the cranes in smaller pieces and give some American workers some of the project?

Larry, if there was 10' of clearance, why do you consider that risking losing the bridges? Just curious.

It was reported both for this one and the last one several years ago that with almost 200 feet ...i think the bridge is about 187...ten feet is not much room for error and thus the need to close major traffic roadways connecting west and eastern shores. Wind direction north or south of course has considersble effect to say nothing of the dam at the north on tides. I am calling BS about cars stopping to watch. Those bridges are major links with constant heavy traffic round the clock. Local news people last time repeatedly quoted concerns about the safe passage. Who signed off on the actual clearance as that ship approached? My question is why risk so much when American workers could have done the final assembly?
